Paying for Treatment

HOW CAN I PAY FOR TREATMENT? MY BILLS ARE EXPENSIVE!

If you’ve been injured, worrying about medical bills should be the last thing on your mind. Understanding how your treatment will be paid for can make the recovery process much less stressful. In every case, it is incredible important to attend every appointment regardless of the final cost, and to make sure everyone involved is tracking the course of your treatment. Work with your lawyer to identify the payment sources available to you for your case, and make sure to keep details of what has been paid, and where those payments have come from.

IF POSSIBLE, START WITH YOUR OWN HEALTH INSURANCE.

If you have a private or public healthcare plan, this is often the most reliable option to get your bills paid. Speak with your clinician and legal team to determine which offices and clinic are in your network, and which method of access will be best for you.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE?

If you or a loved one don’t have health insurance, there still may be options for you. If you are injured, you deserve medical treatment. Ask your Attorney about assistance seeking medical care, and make sure to inquire about free or reduced-cost options for treatment. Make sure you understand what your treatment entails and what the expected charges may be. Remember that the amount shown on a bill is not always the final amount paid, and there are sometimes ways to reduce medical bills or medical debt.
